2 Kings 13:14
Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.
Elisha's sickness was the fatal illness from which he died, coming at the close of a ministry whose influence had been wide. The Joash who came down to him was a young king of Israel who worshiped idols and had little regard for God, yet he wept over Elisha's face and addressed him as a father in Israel. By calling him the chariot of Israel and the horsemen thereof, Joash acknowledged that Elisha's presence in a time of trouble was worth more than an army of horses and chariots.
