2 Kings 13:5

(And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as beforetime.

The Lord gave Israel a saviour, a deliverer from Syrian oppression and rule. By that deliverance Israel went out from under the hand of the Syrians. The children of Israel then dwelt securely in their tents and homes as beforetime, as they had before.

The verse belongs to a period marked by war, defeat, and foreign oppression in the northern kingdom. Assyria's defeat of Syria explains how Israel was freed to expand and grow strong. This explanation fits the history recorded in Kings and Chronicles.
