2 Kings 14:13
And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
Jehoash king of Israel seized Amaziah king of Judah, son of Jehoash son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, then came to Jerusalem and broke down its wall from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, a breach of four hundred cubits. The event belongs both to the history of Amaziah's reign in Judah and to the sixteen-year reign of Jehoash over the ten tribes. It stands as part of the sad story of transgression, war, strife, defeat, captivity and conspiracy under the kings of the ten tribes.
The books of Kings give a much fuller history of Israel than of Judah, while Chronicles give a much fuller history of Judah than of Israel. Amaziah is counted among the kings of Judah who were above average, though Jehoshaphat is the only king in the list described as truly good. This capture of Jerusalem took place 145 years after Jerusalem was plundered by Shishak king of Egypt. The verse falls in 2 Kings 12-14, assigned for Thursday, May 12, within the larger reading from 1 Kings 22 through 2 Kings 20.
