2 Kings 14:15

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

This portion of the record belongs to the continuing history of Israel's ten-tribe kingdom. It falls within the account of Jehoash's sixteen-year reign over that northern kingdom. That reign was a period marked by war, defeat, and foreign oppression.

In the related history of Judah running alongside it, Amaziah is listed among the kings. He is reckoned as an above-average king. The good part of the reign of Joash of Judah is attributed to the influence of Jehoiada.
