2 Kings 14:2

He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

Amaziah was twenty-five years old at his accession, occupied the throne for twenty-nine years at Jerusalem, and was the son of Jehoaddan, a Jerusalemite woman. His record forms part of the history of his kingship over Judah, a reign that opened with faithfulness and closed in wickedness. That history unfolds amid persistent transgression, warfare, strife, defeat, captivity, and conspiracy during the rule of the northern ten-tribe kings Jehoahaz, Jehoash, and Jeroboam II.
