2 Kings 15:21
And the rest of the acts of Menahem, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? And the rest of the acts of Menahem, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
The verse belongs to the closing formula for Menahem's short and troubled ten-year reign over Israel. That reign came after the dynasty of Jehu ended with Zachariah and Shallum, and before the reigns of Pekahiah, Pekah, and Hoshea. During those ten years Tiglath-Pileser III made the kingdom of Israel tributary to Assyria.
The verse stands within the history of 2 Kings 7 to 23, covering nearly 300 years and leading to the end of the kingdom of Israel. That end came by the invasion of Shalmaneser of Assyria, with the conquest completed by his successor Sargon, when the tribes were carried away into captivity and scattered. The same period was the time when Ahaziah, Athaliah, Joash, Amaziah, Azariah or Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, Manasseh, Amon, Josiah, and Jehoahaz reigned in Judah. It was also the time when Hosea, Jonah, Amos, Joel, Isaiah, Micah, Jeremiah, Zephaniah, and Nahum prophesied.
