2 Kings 18:37

Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rab-shakeh.

Once the conference was ended, Eliakim and Shebna and Joah withdrew and came to Hezekiah and told him the words Rabshakeh had spoken. They entered his presence with their clothes rent. Their torn garments bore witness to how seriously they took the Assyrian taunts. The rending showed they understood Rabshakeh's speech not as mere insult but as a blasphemous challenge.
