This is Hezekiah's prayer asking the Lord to bow down His ear and hear and to open His eyes and see the words of Sennacherib. Those words reproached the living God. The threat is presented as an affront to God's honor, with Jehovah's honor at stake, appealing to Him to act in defense of His name.
The request is made as part of a plea for deliverance from Assyria. Hezekiah asks that God's answer will show all the nations that He alone is Lord and God.
