2 Kings 19:28
Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest. Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
The rage and tumult that came up into God's ears were Sennacherib's rage and defiance against God Himself, which God heard. The hook in the nose and the bridle in the lips meant that God would bring the Assyrian king under His control. That control would restrain him like an animal led by hook and bridle. Turning him back by the way by which he came meant that God would turn Sennacherib back and send him home by the same route he had come.
