2 Kings 19:29
And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof.
The sign was addressed to Hezekiah as a pledge that God Himself would feed Judah by miracle after the Assyrian army of occupation had wasted and laid waste the land. It was assurance of divine provision for the nation in the aftermath of invasion. For this present year and for the second year the people would live on what grew of itself and what the ground produced without planting. Then in the third year they would return to normal life by sowing fields and reaping crops and planting vineyards and eating the fruits thereof.
