2 Kings 19:32
Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it. Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.
The Lord gave this word to Hezekiah concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria. It declared that the king would not come into Jerusalem, would not shoot an arrow there, would not come before it with shield, and would not cast a siege bank against it. God Himself would protect and defend the city, and would turn the king back by the same way he had come. He would defend the city to save it, for His own sake and for the sake of His servant David.
The promise was given when the land of Judah had been laid waste by an army of occupation. With it came provision that they would eat what grows of itself in the first year and in the second year, and then in the third year would sow and reap and plant vineyards and eat their fruit. With it also came the promise that the escaped remnant of the house of Judah would again take root downward and bear fruit upward. A remnant would go forth out of Jerusalem and out of Mount Zion, by the zeal of the Lord of hosts.
