2 Kings 2:22

So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.

The waters of the spring at Jericho were healed in fulfillment of the word Elisha had spoken. The healing was permanent, continuing from that time onward to the present day. The healed waters continued to flow and made that part of the valley a beautiful oasis.

Where the water had brought harm, the healing brought life and blessing. The healing was a miracle accomplished by God, not by human wisdom. It was a token of God's compassion and of His willingness to heal Israel's spiritual maladies. The salt cast into the spring illustrates that God's people, made subjects of grace, are to carry saving grace to others.
