2 Kings 2:25

And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.

Elisha went to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria. Carmel was a stopping place for him, and it was there that the Shunammite woman sent for him when her child died. This movement belongs to the account of the experiences of Elisha as Elijah's devout pupil. His prophetic education shows the remarkable result of the system of instruction connected with the schools of the prophets.

In succeeding to Elijah's office, Elisha received the double portion of his master's spirit. By contrast, Gehazi in succeeding to Elisha's office sought after Naaman's material gain and obtained it together with leprosy.
