2 Kings 22:7

Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand, because they dealt faithfully.

The setting is Josiah's reform, the revival that followed the recovery of the neglected law of God. That reform was produced by the discovery of the long-lost Scripture and by its diligent study, which exposed sin and called the nation back to obedience. Through that repentance and reformation the threatened divine judgments upon Judah were held back for a time.

In that work the men appointed to repair the house of the Lord were entrusted with the money placed in their hands without any formal accounting being demanded of them. No reckoning was made because they acted with faithfulness, and their integrity made strict auditing unnecessary.
