2 Kings 24:15
And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the king’s mother, and the king’s wives, and his officers, and the mighty of the land, those carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon. And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the king’s mother, and the king’s wives, and his officers, and the mighty of the land, those carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.
Nebuchadnezzar took Jehoiachin from Jerusalem into captivity in Babylon, together with the king's mother and wives, his officers and officials, and the mighty leading men of the land. This deportation carried away Jerusalem's people, including the king and leading families, and removed Judah's king with many of its influential people. Their defeat and exile came because they had failed to serve as God's missionaries to the nations and had instead separated themselves from the surrounding peoples. God scattered the captives abroad so that through their dispersion the knowledge of His truth could reach the world. If the exiles remained loyal and true and submissive to Him, He would bring them back again to their own land.
