2 Kings 3:20
And it came to pass in the morning, when the meat offering was offered, that, behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water. And it came to pass in the morning, when the meat offering was offered, that, behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.
In the morning at the time of the meat offering water arrived by the way of Edom with no visible human agency and filled the country, showing God meeting His people with provision in a crisis emergency. The event was a severe test of faith and patience, belonging to the tests of faith in the chapter. Trust must rest not on what people themselves can do but on what God can do for and through them, and those who so trust experience His power in their work. The Lord has ways and resources for every emergency and acts in the least anticipated manner. The turning of the battle against the enemy does not come by human strength but by the strength of the mighty commander of armies, who works for the glory of His own name.
The same kind of testing and temptation will confront all teachers of truth, calling them to move forward sustained by Christ's grace even when seemingly impossible obstacles block the way. No one should restrict the Holy One, whose power is ancient and whose methods are beyond discovery, by drawing precise lines for how God must act, since such prescribing leads to disappointment. Faith must not proceed by sight and narrow human planning but depend entirely on God day by day and follow His guidance.
