2 Kings 3:26
And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through even unto the king of Edom: but they could not. And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through even unto the king of Edom: but they could not.
2 Kings 3:26 stands in a test of faith where the battle becomes too sore for human strength, so the king of Moab takes seven hundred swordsmen to break through to the king of Edom and yet cannot break through or secure victory by that power. The failure is the lesson of the verse, that human strength by itself cannot force the issue when the conflict reaches this extremity. The same chapter warns that believers will be brought into the same kind of test and will face apparent impossibilities in their own warfare.
The battle against the enemy is not turned by what men can do of themselves, but by trusting not in their own ability and instead in what God can do for them and through them. Deliverance comes by God's own strength, working in ways least expected and impossible to predict beforehand, so no one can dictate in advance how He will act. All who put their trust in Him will certainly realize His power in their work. For God has ways and means for every emergency, and He acts with the strength of the mighty General of armies for the glory of His own name.
