2 Kings 4:29

Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thine hand, and go thy way: if thou meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute thee, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon the face of the child.

2 Kings 4:29 belongs to the account of Elisha's ministry, which brought healing and joy to the people and carried forward and strengthened the work Elijah had begun. In the verse Elisha sends Gehazi on ahead with his staff to lay it upon the face of the dead child, commanding him to go without delay for greetings, neither saluting any man he met nor answering any who saluted him. The placing of the staff upon the child's face did not awaken him, but he remained dead until Elisha himself came, prayed, and God restored him to life.
