Elisha Restores the Shunammite's Sonby emmanuel_higgins

2 Kings 4:33

He went in therefore, and shut the door upon them twain, and prayed unto the LORD.

Elisha's ministry was peaceful and marked by personal care, and this verse belongs to the account that presents it in that light. He shut himself in alone with the dead child and prayed to the Lord, and only after that prayer was the child restored to life. His miracles, including this restoration, brought healing and rejoicing wherever they were wrought. The bringing back of the child to life was a reward for the faith of the Shunammite woman. It also foreshadows Christ, the Life-giver, restoring the dead to their faithful loved ones at His coming.
