2 Kings 6:12
And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber. And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.
Elisha learned the private words and plans that the king of Syria spoke in his bedchamber and reported them to the king of Israel. No one among the Syrians was betraying their king to Israel; the Lord Himself was revealing the enemy's plans to Elisha. That warning enabled Israel's king to avoid the Syrian ambushes, and so defeated the Syrian armies and designs. This prophetic knowledge was connected with a period when Israel was free from Syrian attacks.
The episode shows Elisha true to principle and true to his God, with his work bearing the divine credentials. It shows God revealing Himself in difficulty and trial as an ever-present Helper. When the Syrian king learned that Elisha had thwarted his designs, he sent an armed host to seize him, but God delivered His servant. All these lessons serve as admonition for those upon whom the ends of the world have come.
