2 Kings 6:29
So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son. So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.
The famine inside besieged Samaria became so severe that prolonged hunger drove mothers to unnatural desperation. Two women agreed to boil and eat their sons in turn, and on the first day they boiled and ate the son of the first woman. On the next day, when the first woman asked for the other woman's son to eat him, the second woman hid her son rather than surrender him, illustrating the horrors and desperate measures caused by the siege.
