2 Kings 6:9

And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.

The warning came before the later siege of Samaria and followed an earlier period of Syrian attacks and deliverance. God revealed to Elisha the Syrians' planned movements, including the Syrian king's secret ambush against Israel. Elisha sent word to the king of Israel to beware and not to pass by those places. That warning enabled the king to escape danger repeatedly. The warning defeated the Syrian king's design against Israel.

The warning proves Elisha true to principle and true to God, with his work bearing the divine credentials. It shows God in difficulty and trial revealing Himself to Elisha as an ever-present Helper. The warning stands with God's other deliverances through Elisha as a lesson of admonition for those upon whom the ends of the world are come.
