Four Lepers Find the Syrian Camp Emptyby emmanuel_higgins

2 Kings 7:8

And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.

During the night four lepers made their way to the outer edge of the Syrian camp and found it completely abandoned, with no one present. They moved into the deserted encampment where the army had fled, discovering tents left standing but empty of men. Going into one tent, they ate and drank freely from what had been left behind. From that same tent they carried away silver and gold and clothing, which they went out and hid for themselves.

They then came back and entered a second tent and took its goods as well and went and hid them in the same way. Having secured spoil from one tent after another, they afterward turned their thoughts to the starving city behind them. They concluded that the flight of the Syrians was good news that had to be carried back and shared rather than kept to themselves.
