2 Kings 8:21
So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents. So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents.
The account belongs to the history of Judah in the reign of Jehoram, coming in the period after Jehoshaphat's alliance with the house of Omri, an alliance that brought lasting evil upon Judah. Jehoram went over to Zair with all his chariots, rose by night, and smote the Edomites who compassed him about together with the captains of the chariots, while the people fled into their tents. That night attack was the episode of Edom's revolt in which Judah's dominion over Edom was broken.
The breaking of that dominion fulfilled the prophecy that Edom would shake Judah's yoke from off its neck. It came to pass when Israel departed from God.
