2 Kings 9:18
So there went one on horseback to meet him, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the watchman told, saying, The messenger came to them, but he cometh not again.
The incident takes place as Jehu drives swiftly toward Jezreel in judgment upon the house of Ahab. The horseman sent out to meet him and the watchman's report of the messenger's failure to return mark successive stages of his nearing approach to the city. The setting is therefore one of urgent advance, with Jezreel awaiting the arrival of the avenger.
