2 Kings 9:4

So the young man, even the young man the prophet, went to Ramoth-gilead.

The young man who went to Ramoth-gilead was a prophet acting under Elisha's direction in carrying out a divinely directed order. He was one of the sons of the prophets. His going took place during a campaign at Ramoth-gilead against the Syrians, in which the forces of both Israel and Judah were engaged. King Jehoram had left the field wounded and had returned to Jezreel to recover from his battle wound.

Jehu had been left in charge in command of the royal armies. The young prophet went there to anoint Jehu king of Israel. He was also to charge Jehu with executing judgment on the house of Ahab.
