The Amalekite Brings Saul's Crown to Davidby emmanuel_higgins

2 Samuel 1:11

Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him:

David and all the men who were with him tore their own clothes when the news of the battlefield disaster reached them. Their rending of garments was an outward act of mourning for Saul and for Jonathan. It was likewise mourning for the people of Israel who had fallen with them in the battle. The grief was shared, with David leading and every man beside him joining in the same lamentation.
