2 Samuel 1:24
Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with other delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel. Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with other delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel.
Saul's kingship brought tangible benefit to the women of Israel through rich provision of clothing and adornment. He clothed them in scarlet together with other delights, surrounding them with the luxuries that his rule made available. He further placed ornaments of gold upon their apparel, adding costly decoration to their dress. For this reason the daughters of Israel are called to weep over Saul, mourning his death as the loss of the one who had so enriched them.
