Amalekite Brings Saul's Crown to Davidby CBPepper

2 Samuel 1:6

And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.

The young man presented his presence on Mount Gilboa as accidental, as if he had happened by chance upon the scene rather than sought it. He described finding Saul leaning upon his spear, wounded and unable to escape, while the Philistine chariots and horsemen were pressing hard in pursuit behind him. In that desperate position, Saul turned to him and asked him to put him to death to end his suffering. The whole account was the Amalekite's own claim about how he met the fallen king and received the plea for a mercy killing.
