2 Samuel 13:25
And the king said to Absalom, Nay, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable unto thee. And he pressed him: howbeit he would not go, but blessed him. And the king said to Absalom, Nay, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable unto thee. And he pressed him: howbeit he would not go, but blessed him.
This verse stands in the story of Absalom's feast, where Amnon was slain by Absalom's command. That slaying was Absalom's revenge for a great crime that Amnon had committed. In these deeds David's sons were repeating the sins of which David himself had been guilty. They were the bitter fruit of his wrongdoing, keeping his sin continually before his mind and making him feel the full weight of the injustice done to Uriah and Bath-sheba.
