2 Samuel 13:26
Then said Absalom, If not, I pray thee, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said unto him, Why should he go with thee? Then said Absalom, If not, I pray thee, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said unto him, Why should he go with thee?
Before this request, Amnon had committed a great crime, and Absalom was intending to avenge it upon him. The verse belongs to the account in which Absalom had his brother Amnon killed in revenge for that crime. Absalom concealed his plan for revenge for two years, then ordered the killing at a feast attended by the king's sons.
The killing and the family conflict that followed brought David continual grief. That grief reminded David of his injustice toward Uriah and Bath-sheba, showing that his own wrongdoing produced bitter consequences through his sons.
