2 Samuel 14:19
And the king said, Is not the hand of Joab with thee in all this? And the woman answered and said, As thy soul liveth, my lord the king, none can turn to the right hand or to the left from ought that my lord the king hath spoken: for thy servant Joab, he bade me, and he put all these words in the mouth of thine handmaid:
David saw through the appeal and asked the woman outright whether Joab was behind it in all of this. She answered with a solemn oath that no one could turn aside from what the king had spoken, and she openly admitted that his servant Joab had commanded her and had placed all those words in her mouth. Joab had arranged this staged plea to move David to bring Absalom back from banishment. Through that maneuver he secured Absalom's reconciliation with his father. Absalom afterward betrayed the trust shown in that reconciliation by leading a rebellion against David.
