2 Samuel 14:4

And when the woman of Tekoah spake to the king, she fell on her face to the ground, and did obeisance, and said, Help, O king.

The woman of Tekoa came before the king in humility, falling on her face to the ground in obeisance and crying out with an urgent plea for help. That plea opened an account in which she set before him a carefully devised story. By that story she sought to move the king toward bringing home his banished son Absalom.

This appeal belongs to the course of events in which Joab twice secured Absalom's reconciliation with David. That intervention by Joab helped make Absalom's rebellion possible.
