2 Samuel 15:13

And there came a messenger to David, saying, The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.

A messenger reached David with word that the loyalties of the men of Israel had gone over to Absalom. That turning of popular allegiance marked the outbreak of open rebellion against the king. It set in motion the expulsion that sent David out from Jerusalem as a dethroned king without his crown.
