2 Samuel 18:15

And ten young men that bare Joab’s armour compassed about and smote Absalom, and slew him.

Absalom was David's son who rose in rebellion and led his followers against his father, only to be defeated and slain. After Joab thrust him through with darts, the ten young men who bore Joab's armor compassed him about, struck him and killed him. His death took place as the rebellion came to its end.

His body was cast into a pit and covered with a heap of stones as a sign of reproach. His death formed part of the bitter and painful consequences of David's earlier wrongdoing. It brought David great distress because the rebel who had died was his own son.
