2 Samuel 18:19
Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok, Let me now run, and bear the king tidings, how that the LORD hath avenged him of his enemies. Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok, Let me now run, and bear the king tidings, how that the LORD hath avenged him of his enemies.
Ahimaaz the son of Zadok asked for permission to run to King David and carry the tidings that the Lord had avenged the king of his enemies. The request was made after the defeat of Absalom, at the time when messengers were being sent to David with news from the battle. Ahimaaz outran the other messenger and reached David first with the news. On arriving he announced to David that God had delivered up the men who had lifted up their hands in rebellion against him. When David asked after Absalom, he evaded the question rather than telling of his fate.
