2 Samuel 19:29

And the king said unto him, Why speakest thou any more of thy matters? I have said, Thou and Ziba divide the land.

The division of the land between Mephibosheth and Ziba belongs to the account of David's return to Jerusalem after his victory over Absalom. It is part of the history of retribution that followed David's wicked wrongdoing toward Uriah, marked by sorrows and crimes within his own family that continued through the rest of his life. That later history of David records the fulfillment of Nathan's prophetic denunciation, as judgments came upon David after his sin involving Uriah. In this setting the episode illustrates that wrongdoing brings consequences of its own kind.
