2 Samuel 2:21

And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay thee hold on one of the young men, and take thee his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him.

This verse belongs to the account of Abner killing Asahel in the course of the war between Israel and Judah. It records Abner's warning to Asahel to turn aside to the right or left, seize one of the young soldiers instead, and take his armor, while Asahel refused to turn away from pursuing Abner himself. Abner's killing of Asahel in that encounter afterward became the cause of Joab's blood-feud against Abner.
