2 Samuel 21:14

And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.

2 Samuel 21:14 belongs to the later history of David, which shows the fulfillment of Nathan's denunciation through judgments that came upon David. It is included in the account of David's kindness to Saul's family, with God being entreated for the land after the events concerning Saul's house. The same chapter also records David's victories.

After the wrong against the Gibeonites concerning Saul's house was dealt with and Saul and Jonathan were buried, God was entreated for the land and the land's distress ended. God holds His people collectively responsible when many allow the sins of a few to continue. Oppression and injustice hinder God's blessing, and addressing such wrongs opens the way for divine favor.
