2 Samuel 22:39

And I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they are fallen under my feet.

This verse belongs to a song David composed while Saul was pursuing him to take his life. It pictures his enemies as consumed and wounded into a defeat so complete that they could not rise and lay fallen under his feet. The song as a whole recounts David's dangers and deliverances. It gives praise and glory to God as the merciful preserver who preserved him.
