The closing declaration belongs to a song David composed while Saul was pursuing him and seeking his life, when David himself was in danger. The song rehearses his perils and his rescues from them, ascribing his saving wholly to God as his merciful preserver. In the midst of severe trials it breathes his trust and devotion and rises into praise.
