David Writing a Psalm at a Window over JerusalemBible World
23:22 Samuel 23:2
The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.
The divine Spirit spoke through David, placing God's utterance upon his tongue. His testimony therefore declares the truth of God's promises, praises God's watchful care over him, and expresses confidence in God's guidance. The words that follow name God as the Rock of Israel. The words that follow further teach that one who rules over men must be just and rule in the fear of God, bringing blessing like the clear light of a cloudless morning and like tender grass springing up nourished by rain.
