2 Samuel 24:22

And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.

Araunah freely offered David his threshing-floor on which to build an altar to the Lord to make atonement for David's sin in numbering Israel. The offer included oxen for burnt sacrifice and everything needful for the sacrifice, including threshing instruments and other implements of the oxen for wood. David's heart was in the work and he still trusted God. David refused to take the generous gift for nothing, because the Lord would accept the sacrifice he was willing to make but he would not come before the Lord with an offering that cost him nothing, so he bought it for full price.

There David offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings, and his repentance was accepted. God accepted the offering by sending fire from heaven to consume the sacrifice. God commanded the angel stretched out over Jerusalem to put his sword into its sheath and cease his work of destruction, ending the pestilence that had killed seventy thousand.
