2 Samuel 3:19

And Abner also spake in the ears of Benjamin: and Abner went also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and that seemed good to the whole house of Benjamin.

The verse records the treacherous overthrow of the throne of Ishbosheth, a throne that had been established by malice and ambition. Abner had become incensed against Ishbosheth as weak and incompetent, so he deserted to David and offered to bring over to him all the tribes of Israel. David accepted Abner's proposals and dismissed him with honor to accomplish his purpose of winning to David at Hebron all Israel and the whole house of Benjamin.
