2 Samuel 3:25

Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou doest.

Abner had grown incensed against the weak and incompetent Ishbosheth and had deserted to David, offering to bring over to him all the tribes of Israel. David had accepted his proposals and had dismissed him with honor as a valiant and famed warrior. The statement is Joab's false accusation to David that Abner had come to deceive him and to spy out his going out and coming in and all that he did. Joab made the charge from jealousy at Abner's favorable reception, to avenge his brother Asahel whom Abner had slain in the war between Israel and Judah, and to rid himself of a prospective rival, and he used it as his occasion to waylay and murder Abner.
