2 Samuel 3:5

And the sixth, Ithream, by Eglah David’s wife. These were born to David in Hebron.

The verse names Ithream as born to David in Hebron by Eglah his wife. He was David's sixth son born in Hebron. The list stands in the account of the political changes that preceded David becoming king over all Israel.

The naming of Eglah as wife and Ithream as a son born in Hebron illustrates David's multiplicity of wives and multiple marriages. Those multiple marriages brought evils expressed in jealousy and wickedness among his sons. That multiplicity of wives was an awful evil, to which the miseries that came upon David may largely be traced.
