2 Samuel 4:12

And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.

David commanded his young men to put to death the men who had murdered Ish-bosheth, refusing to receive their treacherous deed as a way to make his own rule more secure. The execution was their punishment for striking down a righteous man in his own house. Ish-bosheth's head was then taken and laid to rest in the burial place of Abner at Hebron.
