Rechab and Baanah, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, went to the house of Ish-bosheth about the heat of the day, around midday. They arrived to find him lying on his bed at noon, at rest in his own house. They then murdered him there, cut off his head, and carried it away. They brought the severed head to David, expecting by that deed to win his favor.
