2 Samuel 6:18
And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts. And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts.
2 Samuel 6:18 belongs to David's bringing of the ark to the holy city with solemn gladness and great rejoicing. It was a scene of triumph such as Israel had long not witnessed, as the vast procession wound its way through hills and valleys toward the holy city. The rejoicing was expressed in exultant shouts and songs, with a multitude of voices joined to harps and psalteries and timbrels and cornets and cymbals.
That same bringing of the ark was interrupted at Nachon's threshingfloor, when Uzzah took hold of the ark and God struck him dead there. Sudden terror fell upon the rejoicing throng at the stroke of judgment. David was astonished and greatly alarmed, questioning God's justice while he had sought to honor the ark as the symbol of the divine presence. Feeling it unsafe to have the ark near him, he left it nearby at the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
