2 Samuel 7:24
For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God. For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God.
The promise belongs to the assurance of divine favor given to David concerning himself, his descendants after him, and Israel as a nation. In that assurance God confirmed Israel to Himself as His own people forever and became their God, thereby securing their relationship with Him on a permanent basis. In response to receiving this assurance David renewed his covenant with God.
